Home Health Aide Information and Basics


Working in the health sector with patients is something that is rather demanding and often can test your mind as well as your emotions. There are many paths to take if you are a CNA or an HHA. Being a certified nursing assistant and a home-health aide are probably the most demanding jobs simply for the fact that you are the family doctor regarding their daily activities. You're the one who has more contact with them, and therefore, we have tried every day both physically and mentally. Not only do you have to help with ADL, but also to support emotionally. There may be a time that a patient is dying, and they need support to stay happy and comfortable. This can be a test for sure and then there are certain skills you need to work as a CNA / HHA.


Educational requirements. 

In general, there is a need to have a high school diploma to earn certification HHA. You are, for the most part, going to earn your training on the job as you go and is offered by a licensed nurse. Aides who have experience can also teach you the ropes in the structure. How HHA, you're going to clean, cook, change bed linen, offering companionship and running errands if needed. For the most part, you're going to work in a domestic environment, which means that the patient's home. 

You are being trained on how to react to certain situations and under certain circumstances, with the patients. You will be taught basic first aid and how to use a defibrillator if necessary. There are some employers who will take you under their wing so to speak, to train the way they like their assistants to be.

Get the HHA license.

There is a 75-hour course that you are going to take in order to become a certified home-health aide. You will also need to complete a competency test, which is a state exam that shows you have the skills necessary to work in the state you are in Your training is going to also take vital signs, medical terminology, basic nutrition, and check the spread of infection. 

Earning Potential.

Working as a healthcare assistant house has an hourly wage starting at about $9 - $10 depending on where you work. Working for healthcare at home is not going to pay as much as working in a nursing home. The more experience you have, the higher the salary will be. There are also some employees who earn much more than $12 or $13 per hour. You can expect pay increases with experience and for a period of time to stay with one company. Beginning a career in the medical field is exciting and proves to be difficult. You must be prepared to deal with difficult patients and to go for long hours at times.
