Bone density: Because our bones become weak?


A few days ago, I was sent for a bone density scan. It was easy, fast, and almost before I knew it had begun. Yet my doctor never explained what they were doing, how they were going to score the results. He just said, we need a base so that we can measure any changes. I found this a bit weird. Are you sure you want to know if things are changing and how fast they are changing, but there is something more than that? 



Of course, as everyone knows, you have to take a lot of calcium for strong bones. I know this is what we are after all. The problem is that I do not believe it. I really hesitate to say that. It's almost heresy. We in the western world take calcium supplements, yet osteoporosis is so common. It is treated simply as a natural consequence of aging. But it is not. And common here, but not everywhere. And because our bones lose calcium in the first place. This does not seem right. What is taking calcium from the bones? If we do not take in enough calcium to keep your bones strong, how come so many of us have problems with calcium deposits such as kidney stones? Part of this story is missing. I wanted to know what could be the missing part. 

I tried to find the most common causes of bone loss. 
  • One that is often overlooked is dehydration. We do not get enough water.

The Obesity - I said it! Most of you, I'm sure, have given this a thought or two bad word, especially in light of our most-recent holiday season. I think it's time to give a little more than just a thought and, more importantly, begin to seriously consider acting on these thoughts before this word becomes a serious harm to your health! Obesity is becoming an epidemic in this country, as the numbers below a show.

And please do not make the mistake of believing that it is only a matter of aesthetics. Far from it. As you will see, obesity can have a drastic effect on your life, in all the wrong ways. Frankly, it can kill. According to the Institute National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, there are almost 100 million Americans, including 40 million Baby Boomers - who are overweight or even obese, and therefore, face the risk of various chronic diseases, as well as potential problems musculo-skeletal disorders. 



This, despite the fact that we are the generation that is supposedly the savviest in terms of exercise and good eating habits! It could very well be on the road to diabetes or signs of impending coronary artery disease and not know it. Only a thorough medical check-up will tell you if you are developing one of these conditions. So, while you should be commended for wanting to change his lifestyle to combat this problem, get a check-up before you make sure you can follow-through with these wonderful wishes safely! 

You may also think that you've tried shedding pounds before you reach your " ideal " weight and have been disappointed. It is perfectly natural to feel this way, but you should not. Millions of people rely on caffeine for energy every day. It 's the most common legal drug on the planet. So it's actually good for us? Like a lot of things, in moderation, perhaps. How many of us get our caffeine from coffee consumption. I just use this drink for the article.
